What to pack (and what not to)

Last verified: 2026-07-16

Route-specific essentials

  • Korean won in cash β€” passport (β‚©4,000), some motels and country restaurants are cash-first; foreign cards fail at odd moments.
  • A spare stamp-pad β€” booths run dry, and a photo-at-the-booth backup costs you the satisfying stamp.
  • Helmet β€” legally required when cycling in Korea.
  • eSIM/SIM with data β€” navigation and translation depend on it.
  • Sunscreen and gloves; the riverside paths have long shadeless stretches.

Flat-lay of the route-specific kit on a table: Korean won notes, spare ink pad, helmet, eSIM card/phone, vinyl passport cover, sunscreen. Label each item β€” visual packing checklist that works in any language.

You need less than you think

GS25/CU/7-Eleven convenience stores appear every few kilometers on most of the route with food, water, batteries and even basic tools. Tap water is safe. Isobutane gas canisters (for campers) are easy to find. Pack for 2–3 days, not 7 β€” you can resupply constantly.
